Princess Leonor of Spain began Navy Training

Leonor, The Princess of Asturias, has arrived at the  Marin Naval School (ENM) in Marin, Pontevedra to continue the second year of her Military Training. Leonor will spent a few months at the school before a training journey aboard the teaching ship, Juan Sebastián de Elcano, early next year. All the Naval cadets are required to go through this training journey. Princess Leonor will graduate from the Naval Academy as Midshipman next summer.

Ahead of Princess Leonor’s arrival at the school, The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, made a visit to the school for an inspection. It was announced in early 2023 that instead of going to university, Leonor will go for a 3 years long military training with all forms of military – starting with the Army, then Navy, and lastly Air Force. Leonor began the training at the Military Academy of Zaragoza in August 2023 and Graduated with the title of Lady Cadet this year.

After spending summer break with her parents and sisters, which included a visit to Paris to cheer the Spanish Athletes, sometime at the Balearic Island and a private vacation in Greece, now Leonor is back to her military training.

While, in August 2023, King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofia accompanied Leonor on her first day at the Military Academy, this year, Leonor chose to arrive on her own at the Navy school. Leonor was wearing the white Navy Uniform of the Spanish Navy when she arrived at the Naval school.

Upon arrival, Leonor was received by the Commander-Director of the School. The Marine Navy School has been training its officers for more than 300 years. Scientific-technical, military, naval, physics are among the various subjects which are taught during the training. The whole training period is centered around the the four pillars that instills in its students and preside over the courtyard “Álvaro de Bazán” of the School: Honor, Value, Discipline and Loyalty, true Polar star that guides the sailors of Spain.
